Promote Your Site When promoting your site, it is important to remember that you must be picky about where you want your customers coming from. For example, if you hire a web promotion service, they will more than likely have your link stuffed into a page with hundreds of other links. This is a good thing, right? Wrong. Google, the web's number 1 search engine, says this is not the way to boost your ranking. When Google determines rank and PageRank, they DO look at incoming links. The trick is that the page pointing to it must have a very few set of links in order for the links to actually mean anything. What I mean by that is this: a page has a certain PageRank according to Google. When they have a page full of links, each of these links get a proportionate "vote" for that page by the referring page. If they have 100 links on the page and that page has a PageRank of 4, your link gets 100th of a vote when clicked. It would have to be clicked 100 unique times in order for your vote to be have an effect of 4/100ths. Sounds bad, eh? Whereas if that same page (PageRank of 4) has only 5 links on it, it only has to be clicked 5 times in order for your PageRank to start going up. This is the way to go! At BrainStorm, since we are a new site, we have minimal PageRank. The incentive for you, as a customer, to advertise on our site is that the advertising package that you select gets displayed on all of our pages (currently 106, not counting the Forum pages) for one small fee.
