Whether you need an entire web site design, a web page design, a web design template, or a complete overhaul of your existing website, Brainstorm can handle it. I specialize in taking what is already there (and that you don't necessarily like) and making it into a website that you can be proud of. Most times, a business will have one of their inside people do the company's website. While this is not necessarily the wrong thing to do, it can be detrimental in the long run. For example, just about anyone can make a plain, informative web page, but it takes training to make that same informative page "do stuff". What does that mean? Frankly, it means that the page is only as good as the designer. If the designer knows how to make a dynamic page that updates from the a database and creates images on the fly, then that designer is obviously more experienced than the designer that takes 5 minutes out of their day on FrontPage to create a corporate identity. At Brainstorm, I prefer to sit with my clients and "sketch" the layout of the site. Such things as navigation, performance, and graphic design come later; what I'm primarily interested in is what you want the site to accomplish, and how I can help you get there. After I figure out the basics of the site, I get into the navigation structure. This can be a daunting task; there can't be too much because it's tacky, and there can't be too little because no one will be able to find their way around your site. After navigation, I help you decide performance. The scripting language comes into play here, and since I prefer to write in PHP (free) or ColdFusion (not free), one of those two will always be my number 1 recommendation. PHP is faster and cleaner than it's closest competitor, ASP. Plus, it's free to the user, as is MySQL, the database structure I use for my dynamic sites. After performance, we decide on the actual graphic design. All of the design is done in-house by me. If you have pre-existing logos or trademarked slogans, we can incorporate that into your new website as well. After it is all done to your satisfaction, then and only then, is the site loaded onto the webserver and submitted to the search engines. I concentrate on Google more than any other search engine, since they are arguably the most comprehensive search engine out there.
